ALB FACT regards a project that seeks to provide solid information - inter alia, through lectures and a website - as foundation for open discussion on the Western Balkans, and the Albanian factor thereof.
ALB FACT aims to familiarize a broad audience with a variety of international dimensions that play a role in the further development and shaping of South Eastern Europe's future.
ALB FACT has emanated from long lasting cooperation between two collectives, i.e. NGIZ Utrecht and SIB Utrecht. Next to other international topics, both Utrecht based organisations have a common history pertaining to the organising of Balkan lectures. Their cooperation is currently further enhanced and enlarged through ALB FACT.
The Netherlands Society for International Affairs (NGIZ) and the Dutch United Nations Students Association / Students Association for International Affairs (SIB) increasingly work together, on the national as well as the regional level. They endeavour to involve not only the senior and junior section of internationally interested people, yet also the working field of international organisations, government, politics, science, non-governmental organisations, media and the business community.
Among these categories, the attention of NGIZ and SIB is currently directed in particular towards young professionals. In effect, a substantial multiplier effect - towards a large audience - is attained. Regularly, activities are organised that take place in the English language. Thus, the audience is further extended and in the process more networking opportunities arise.
This is also applicable to the ALB FACT project.
The organisation of this unique cooperation project resides with NGIZ Utrecht and SIB Utrecht, who have installed a common (ALB FACT) project group for this purpose. This project group has opted for a cycle of Ambassadorial Lectures, whereby countries from the Western Balkans are presented. In all this, the Albanian factor remains a leading thread. Its rationale is seperately explained. Read more....
The main goals of the ALB FACT lecture series regard increasing knowledge on the Balkans region, and with it the elimination of prejudice. This mainly takes place through a programme (which incorporates various countries from the South Eastern Europe region) and the presenting of background materials on the ALB FACT website.
As time progresses, said materials may be extended so that the lecture series (and possible ALB FACT follow-on activities) may produce proper debate and dialogue, while also other positive spin-off may emerge.
ALB FACT gatherings are free of charge and publicly accessible. However, for organisational reasons, registration - prior to the various lectures - is required for actual participation.
The ALB FACT project group highly appreciates any further suggestions, which they will be pleased to receive through the contact form of this website.
See you at ALB FACT!
